An overall view

We took the bus and it was well worthwhile. The deal was available for two days and included a visit to the cathedral ( entry paid) plus a one hour walking tour in the old city . We first did a full round trip on the bus to get our bearings and then used it locally. As our hotel was deliberately in the old quarter for sightseeing it was convenient for getting to the extensive beach outside city walls
Good way to start your visit

We only had one day in the city. This tour gave us a good overview to start. The city streets are very narrow, so a large tour bus won’t fit down them. This bus goes around the outside, along the water. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best you can expect for a 3,000 year old city with the layout as it is. Very informative narration. Wish we would have timed it better to be able to take the free walking tour that is offered with this. Suggest watching your timing if you want to fit that in.

Hop on Hop Off from Cruise Pier

We arrived in Cadiz by cruise ship and decided to try this way of seeing the city sights.
This was a great way to take in the city. You were given ear buds that you could plug into from your seat that would tell you all about the sights along the way in English.
Several other languages were available as well. We rode the route 2x before deciding the places we would get off.

Last weekend we accompanied residents of Casa Fragela to enjoy the city of Cádiz on a trip on the City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour.
The experience was very pleasant and the facilities provided by the City Sightseeing staff to make this event possible were appreciated.
I highly recommend using this service if you are planning to visit the city of Cádiz.

No English Translation for Walking Tour

We always enjoy the HopOn Hop Off experience. It gives us so much that we can get if we did it on our own; however, the walking tour that was included was not good as it was primarily Spanish and not English.
They tried to accommodate us but it didn't work to have her speak Spanish and then translate for us. We finally left as it was too difficult for us.
I understand that you can't have all tours with the proper translation with Covid but we were looking forward to the walking tour in English.
Please make it happen soon.

Only did this tour on Xmas Day as all the museums etc were shut. Like all these tours elsewhere you only get a limited tour of the city due to access, a trite commentary/guide, dubious sound quality- at a high price. But the sun was shining, the city looked great and we got to see the modern parts which we wouldn't have walked to.
But a big thank you to the lady in the kisok in plaza San Juan de dios where we purchased our bus tickets as she helped us get the free cathedral tour & discount on the camera obscura tour, and the short free city walking tour (all closed on Xmas Day), a day early/before activating the 24 hr bus ticket. She also kindly rang the Tavira Tower to book the camera tour for us. Great service from her.

As in many other cities we chose to use a hop-on / hop-off tour for a first meeting with Cadiz. We encountered problems in orientation, as there is no plan available, not printed, not on Internet. The station we were sent by the hotel was closed because of road works, so we had to walk to the next station. Good explanations in 16 languages. Quite expensive.
Useful Outer circle Loop

You can only buy a 2 day ticket which somewhat reduces value if you only need a half day. I found it difficult to work out from the local tourist map the exact placement of stops and the direction of travel. I guess I was just lucky I saw a bus slowing and ran to get on. It is an ok way to do the full circle but understand due to the narrow streets of old town, you will need to walk to see most sites. The tour is useful in wet weather like the day I used it and also in summer when you might want to access beaches. A Cunard ship was in and it starts at the port so it was pretty busy .Morning conductor was a bit gruff and unsmiling but the next one was young and happy! Great drivers to handle the narrow streets and overhanging trees!

Very expensive, no arrival bus times where we got on @stop No5 bus terminated at dockside, wouldn't recommend
