I didn't want to seem like a tourist, but I am so glad I got on board. There was no way I could have driven or walked to the places that the tour bus took me to, I would recommend to do this at least on your first two days, just so you can get an Idea of where to go..

The addition of a cruise port stop on days that the cruise ships are in is extremely convenient. It was a good value-added surprise.

It was a really great service, nice customer service, they managed to let us enter the flamenco show after our card was expired( due to bus delay the day before )
The bus drivers are very friendly, especially IVAN who was really helpful and sympathetic.

This bus took a lot of time but there wasn't much to see. At one point it stopped at an intersection for about 10 minutes for unclear reasons - was not traffic issue, or loading/unloading. It was about 90 minutes to do a single 'round'. In general the town is not easy to walk or get around. Unlike other ports, the 'sites' are a fair walking distance from the cruiseport. If time is a constraint, it would be better to arrange for a taxi or other transport from the dock to the desired location.

We bought a 24 hour hop on hop off ticket on the saturday we were there. The bus stop was opposite our hotel which was handy but when we set off we spent half an hour going in the opposite direction and ended up outside our hotel again and there was nothing really to see in that half hour. The highlight was going up to the castle as it would have been a tremendous slog to walk up but apart from that everywhere else is quite walkable...unless you really to go to the castle it's better to walk
Careful of Hop on Hop off vendors in Malaga cruise terminal

I'm glad this was not our first experience with the Hop on hop off sightseeing company. We have been very pleased with this company all over the world. When we arrived at the cruise terminal in Malaga there were a couple of hop on hop off representatives in the lobby. We were given a recipt for 2 tickets (no actual tickets) & a map. We followed the representative's incomplete directions to the bus pickup outside the terminal. She failed to mention that the bus stop was ACROSS THE STREET hidden by some bushes & palm trees. Finally after asking multiple cruise terminal employees, we headed across the street with appropriately 15 other passengers. The bus driver took our receipt (as well as the other passengers) & we made our Loop without incident. We found a spot to hop off & asked the new bus driver how we were going to prove we had paid to get back on. He said, no ticket no ride. We explained that the previous driver had taken our receipt. No luck in our negotiations process. We hopped off & took a taxi for the return. My recommendation is to purchase your tickets online so you have a QR code ticket.
