What To Expect

The Alhambra

The tour focuses on the Alhambra, the last Moorish bastion on the Iberian Peninsula. On our way are the former Franciscan monastery, the church of Santa Maria de la Alhambra and the palace of Charles V. However, the heart of the Alhambra are the Nasrid Palaces: Mexuar, Comares and the Löwenhof. Not to forget the beautiful gardens: Partal and Generalife.

During the tour we learn who was behind the construction of the Alhambra, what the intention was, why it was called "the red castle", what construction techniques were used and how the ceramics and stucco decorations were made. We also breathe the aromas of the gardens des Generalife, listen to the water channels, watch the play of light in the courtyards, learn about the special features of the Arab-Andalusian gardens, decipher the meaning of the numerous symbols and poems that adorn the walls of the palaces.
