Overview

This route is an extension of our El Burgo XC Challenge ride, double the distance, double the ascent and a challenging steep descent to negotiate. It is a superb ride for experienced mtb-ers with good technical skills and excellent fitness who enjoy natural, technical singletrack.

We drive from Ronda to the white village of El Burgo, located on the edge of the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park and surrouded by vast expanses of mountains and pine-forested hillsides. From the village we head north on a tough "warm-up" climb through the mountains on varied trails. Topping out at just over 1000m, we enjoy fantastic views before taking a steep and challenging descent back to the village. Then its up into the hills to the south of the village to explore the rocky ups and downs which characterise this area. We criss-cross the forests, using a mix of forest trails and sections of singletrack, with technical challenges throughout. Finishing on one of our favourite single track sections.
